The Vision....
FlintFest began as a
vision of Colleen of
Reckless Entertainment.
The idea was to be able to put the best of Flint's rock bands together on one
stage. No battle of the bands or any of that competitive crap. Just the bands
out there having fun and entertaining the people.
Flint is hardly ever perceived in a positive light, but when you think about it
some of the best bands are here in Flint. So why not have an all day music
festival where everyone can come out and enjoy the music without having to be
cooped up in a bar? Best part, it an all ages event held at Kearsley Park. The
bands play in the pavilion and the kids have the playground right next to it.
The decision has been made for me to go this alone.
Reckless Entertainment proudly presents... FlintFest will become Flint Rock Fest
in 2008. This is Flint, Michigan's only all day, all local band concert. It is
also the only Rock family event, so bring the kids, they always have a blast!
Following city of Flint park regulations this is a no alcohol event. Flint Rock
Fest aka FlintFest takes place every year on the 2nd Saturday in August at
Kearsley Park. The official date will be Saturday, August 9th. The event
consists of the best of the best when it comes to local music. Sound will be
provided by Rockhouse Productions and we all know what a kickass job Keith does
so it will be balls to the wall sound that day. Majority of all the vendors and
sponsors are based right here in little old Flint. 2008 holds many new additions
to the event. Not only do I have Banana 101.5 FM come out and do a live
broadcast but I am having the addition of a custom bike show and also a custom
truck show, all courtesy of Flint Gear Grinders who will take care of the car,
bike and truck lineups. If we can get the permits, I will also have a full
fireworks display brought in by Hawks Fireworks that will happen between 9:30 &
10pm. After that, we all head over to Corunna Road Bar for some more music and
then some alcohol! Watch for the constant updates that will be happening.
Just so no one misunderstands, and to disperse all rumors about favoritism to
Publik Parking, this concert would not be taking place for the last 3 years if I
had not gotten pissed off because no one wanted a female fronted rock/metal band
at their festival several years ago. So I decided to make my own festival and
the rest is history.
To continue the tradition started by Dave the Doorman (RIP), Flint's own Ozzy
will again be our official MC
